When Kara and Andrew shared their love story with me, I knew that we had to have their classic DC engagement photos at the Lincoln Memorial. Not only was it one of the places they visited on their first date, but it was also where Andrew proposed to Kara. I was thrilled when we settled on a gorgeous sunrise session to capture their Lincoln Memorial engagement portraits! I just love DC engagement photos!!! They’re always so elegant feeling.
Classic Lincoln Memorial Engagement Portraits
Sunrise sessions are never easy on anyone, but Kara and Andrew were just incredible. To start, Kara brought me a cup of coffee – I mean, seriously?! SO thoughtful!!!! And they were just naturals in front of the camera. It’s clear to see that they were always meant to be. They have such a classic but relaxed style and I loved finding ways to bring that out during their portraits.
During their engagement session, I learned a little bit more about their love story. Kara and Andrew met through a mutual friend. When Kara found out Andrew would be moving to Austria for work, she tried to remain uninterested… but, eventually they did go on a first date in DC. After dinner, they walked around the monuments and wound up at the Lincoln Memorial. They started to realize not long after that date that a long distance relationship wouldn’t really work out. But, Andrew didn’t wind up taking the job…. and 2 years later, he proposed to Kara in front of the Lincoln Memorial! Seriously so romantic!!!
